Since the rise of social media channels, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. People have found a place to let go off their feelings, share, and let out their thoughts. However, a long with that, there are also cases reported that a lot of people are being public shamed on these social media channels.

It’s no doubt how high end technologies and social platforms have been giving positive effects in making relationships, molding individual and connecting one to another in all parts of the world. It has been used as a tool to send out information, thoughts, and messages.
But along with that lies the uncertainty of other people’s interests. Some people deems to find room for public shaming and maltreating someone online. These are harsh things and some people may not be able to handle this one. That leads them to anxiety, and even a lot more serious cases.
Cyberbullying is carried out via text messages, emails, social networks, chat forums, blogs, and websites. It can be a making of a fake profiles, doctored images, hate speech and is used to humiliate people, to public shame and bring fear.
Public shaming someone can go in little forms, and even in big forms. A simple negative comment on a photo can mean cyberbullying. And what more if you intentionally hurt them publicly?

Effects of Cyberbullying
First and common consequence of cyberbullying is fear and protest by the victim. Children fears that it results them to not attend class and skip schools, and the more they fear to be bullied again, the more these results to anxiety and serious depression. Sometimes, their fear lets them develop personality disorders that makes them act defensively on things. Some cases reported that there have been students in school who were bringing weapons because of the reason that they fear someone will bully them. Those were the students who were victim of cyberbullying.
Second, public shaming have resulted to cause children lack of self confidence, lack of self esteem, self-awareness and it made them become antisocial at school. Most victims of cyberbullying thought that nobody likes them at school and that they are socially accepted in the environment. It also causes them to not participate in school activities, because they are afraid of speaking up because, again, they might get bullied.
All in all, cyberbullying effects on classroom participation is really serious. These students must have proper counseling and guidance to help them with what they are feeling. Public shaming isn’t just bullying. It is something more. It is depression, it is fear, it is anxiety, it is illness.
